National Route R292 Shiga-Kusatsu Kogen Route

Current Status: OPEN / Partially Restricted

⚠⚠ Road Closure Status (as of 18 May 2026, 08:30) ⚠⚠
– Due to traffic restrictions caused by volcanic activity at Mt. Shirane, the route from Manza Junction to Kusatsu Onsen remains closed even after the winter road closure is lifted. In that case, you can reach Kusatsu via the Manza Highway (toll road) through Manza Onsen and Tsumagoi village.
