Welcome to the largest ski resort in Japan, Shiga Kogen!
The expansive Shiga Kogen ski area is one of Japan’s largest, and is generally divided into two main zones: the northern area and the southern area.
With an All-Mountain Pass, you can access all 18 ski areas in Shiga Kogen. Many of them are linked by skiable routes, allowing you to explore freely—even make a full loop of the resort.
Northern Area (from north to south):
- Okushiga
- Yakebitaiyama
- Central (Ichinose, Takamagahara, Higashitateyama, Nishitateyama, Hoppo Bunadaira, Giant, Hasuike, Maruike and Sun Valley)
Southern Area (from north to south):
*Click each ski area’s name to learn its own unique features and highlights.
Within each zone, ski areas are connected by ski runs, lifts, and gondolas, so you can move between them without taking off your skis or snowboard.
However, the northern and southern zones are not directly connected on the slopes. To travel between them, you’ll need to use a free shuttle bus or a private vehicle. (No taxi or Uber stationed in Shiga Kogen)
To make the most of your time, we recommend choosing accommodation in the zone you plan to ski most.
