The best place to go during the hot and humid summer months is the summit of Yokoteyama. Climbing to an elevation of 2,300 meters, it is about 10 degrees cooler than the cities below.
Mt. Yokote summit can be reached by either the Shibutoge Romance Lift from the Shibutoge Ski Area side or the Sky-Lator and Sky Lift from Yokoteyama Ski Area side. There are parking lots on both sides for free of charge.
Of course, hikers can choose to walk up the mountain instead of taking the lift. Reaching the summit from either side takes about 30 minutes to an hour.
