Connection Course Status

The ski areas of Shiga Kogen are divided into two main zones — the North Zone and the South Zone.
Each zone is internally connected by ski courses, lifts, and gondolas, allowing you to move around while skiing.
However, the north and south zone are not directly connected by ski courses, so traveling between them requires a shuttle bus or car.

North Zone

Passable Okushiga Kogen ⇔ Yakebitaiyama (Flat groomed path of about 100m)
Passable Yakebitaiyama → Okushiga Kogen (via A1 Giant slalom course and Q1 connecting course)
◆Ichinose / Takamagahara Mammoth / Nishitateyama / Higashitateyama Area
Passable Yakebitaiyama ⇔ Ichinose Yamanokami (connecting around bottom area)
Passable Ichinose Yamanokami ⇔ Ichinose Diamond (connecting around the summit)
Passable Ichinose Diamond ⇔ Ichinose Family (connecting via the overpath)
Passable Ichinose Family ⇔ Tannenomori Okojo ⇔ Takamagahara
Passable Takamagahara ⇔ Nishitateyama (connecting via the overpath)
Passable Takamagahara → Higashitateyama (from Takamagahara summit through the Higashitateyama Olympic course and Forest course)

  • There is no public transportation after the last bus. Be sure to arrange your own transportation in advance.

A free shuttle bus runs between the ski areas from 8:30 to 17:30 daily.

First time on skis? Want to improve your snowboarding skills? Don’t worry!
Shiga Kogen has many SIA and SAJ certified ski schools offering multilingual lessons.
You can take lessons at the ski area closest to your hotel, or choose another ski area if you prefer.

Kids Snow Parks Available

Family-friendly kids parks are available at Okushiga Kogen, Yakebitaiyama, Maruike, and Kumano-yu ski resorts. Most parks are free to enter and do not require a lift ticket, making them perfect for non-skiers and day visitors. Sleds and snow play equipment are available for rent.
